KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

Fiqri Dine Executive Director, Head of Investments - J.P. Morgan Private Bank

Fiqri Dine is charged with leading the investment practice for the Pacific Northwest region. Fiqri helps the bank’s largest clients to navigate capital markets and make sound financial decisions. He establishes the investment philosophy and approach for his team to advise individuals on all aspects of the clients’ complex needs. In Fiqri’s senior leadership role, he draws from the richness of his background to ensure that the assets entrusted to the office are properly managed. His strength lies in an ability to make investment recommendations that consider the broader context of clients’ lives and make the most of the market opportunities at hand. Fiqri affords direct access to the global resources, research and intellectual capital of the firm. He nurtures a collaborative environment that develops the skills of each investor, ultimately serving the best interest of clients.

STATE UPDATE:
Lisa Brown, WA Department of Commerce

Lisa Brown, Ph.D., (she/her) was appointed Commerce director by Gov. Jay Inslee and began serving the agency in February 2019. Lisa is a longtime resident of Spokane. Before serving as Commerce director, she worked as chancellor of Washington State University and led the health science campus there, including the creation of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Lisa represented the Spokane area in the state House from 1993-1996 as minority whip and minority floor leader, breaking ground as a single working mother. She then went on to the state Senate, where she became the first Democratic female majority leader and served until 2013. Lisa is an economist and has taught at Eastern Washington University and Gonzaga University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Illinois and her master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She has worked extensively on efforts to create jobs and support working families across Washington state.

Tom Layson is KBTC's Managing Editor and the producer/host of Northwest Now. Tom comes to the job with more than 30 years of experience having worked as a television news reporter and anchor.
